TMK Energy Final commissioning of Mongolia’s Gurvantes XXXV Coal Seam Gas Project’s Pilot Well Programme. All surface facilities, civil works, and downhole pump and drive head installation finished. The testing phase of production is expected to begin around the middle of July.
TMK Energy Pilot Well Programme at the Gurvantes XXXV CSG Project (TMK 67%, Talon Energy 33%) in the South Gobi Basin of Mongolia is currently in its final commissioning phase, and TMK Energy Limited (ASX: TMK) is glad to report that the extended production testing will soon begin.
All surface facilities and associated infrastructure have been completed since the last update on June 28th, 2023, when the downhole pumps and drive heads were being fitted.
TMK Energy stated, In the coming week, the three pilot production wells will go through a brief commissioning phase before the start of the expanded production.
The hydrostatic pressure in the production period, which consists of 60-70 metres of coal in the top seams and is composed primarily of methane gas, will be lowered by pumping water out of the coals during the extended production test.
TMK Energy went on to say, depressing the hydrostatic pressure in the coal seam below the critical desorption pressure allows coal seam gas to desorb from the coal and flow up the well, which is the method used to produce coal seam gas.
Under the terms of the Cooperation and Offtake Agreement with MAK, the well’s output gas will first be measured by a metering skid attached to the surface well head before being routed to a flare line, where it will be burned off in the near term before possibly being hooked up to reciprocating engines to generate electricity.
It is projected that the wells will initially discharge large levels of water and low levels of methane gas. Subsequently, it is anticipated that the gas rates are going to rise whilst the water rates will decline over the period of the production test.
Chief Executive Officer of TMK Energy, Mr. Brendan Stats, said:
With the final commissioning now underway, the commencement of the extended production testing from our maiden Pilot Well Program at the Gurvantes XXXV Coal Seam Gas project is due to officially commence within the next week.
Upon final commissioning and testing of the SCADA systems and other ancillary equipment, the final stage will be the careful and measured start-up of the pumps to commence the dewatering process which we expect will be a 2-3 month process, after which we hope and expect to see initial gas breakthrough which is expected to build over the subsequent months.
